domination of this island it was a trading outpost for many of the Arab traders.
The main attraction being gems and spices, it was also known to be king Solomon's

varieties and cats eye and Sapphires more widely known for the blue Sapphires.

Besides gems, Sri Lanka was also famous for the spices like Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamoms and black Pepper, after foreign domination, initially coffee and thereafter tea and also rubber and coconut products. Sri Lanka's civilization goes even beyond Chandra Banu dynasty. Sri Lanka is basically a Buddhist dominated country of around 2500 years even though other nationalities like Tamils, Moors, Malays and Burghers are living. It's a multireligious, multicultural and multilinguistic country.

The main attractions in this paradise island are intermingled with the ancient history in modern times structures. The hub of the country is Colombo where most of the commercial and hospitable industry thrive. Colombo has many hotels from no star to 5 star which could accommodate comfortable means depending on the economic needs of the tourist.
The main tourist attraction apart from the ancient monuments are the fauna & flora, wildlife and sandy beaches around the island. On the stretch towards the south the turtle hatchery at Kosgoda, the ancient fort of Galle from the Dutch regime, wildlife sanctuaries at Yala & Wilpattu, the birds sanctuary at Kumana &Bundala beside the salterns at Hambantota where there is a predominant trace of Malays who came in there when they were banished from Java & Sumatra. Their customs traditions and culture are still found in this area even though their language is more colloquial now after 400 years.

The city of gems is Ratnapura and its environs. Some of the most valuable and expensive gems are found there. Towards the centre of Sri Lanka in the city of Kandy where you find the Dalada Maligawa the citadel of Buddhism besides Anuradhapura where the first Bo tree was planted which has a very ancient history. Beyond Kandy you get in to the hill country where you find the greenery of the British tea estates. Tea is the dominating economic resource of this country. Nuwara Eliya is also a tourist attraction for its climatic conditions being cold for around 10 months in the year.

Before getting to Anuradhapura you have to pass Dambulla where you get the ancient Buddhist monuments and a little way from this area you can get into Sigiriya, famous for its rock fortress and the ancient graffiti around the fortress. From Anuradhapura if you proceed to Trincomalee which has one of the few natural harbours in the world and also the hot springs. From Trincomalee you get to Batticaloa best known for the singing fish and the Pasikudah beach where you could wade for over 300 metres in to the sea where the water is very shallow. From Trincomalee northwards towards Jaffna and Point Pedro the furthermost point of the island. From there you could come down south into the wildlife sanctuary at Wilpattu National Park and the postal towns namely Puttalam, Chilaw and Negombo where fishing industry thrives. From Negombo downwards you get back to Colombo passing the BIA International airport and the Free Trade Zone which is within the vicinity.
In my address I have given a brief account of the interesting important aspects of Sri Lanka for tourists or otherwise and I have computed broad details and guidelines incorporating many aspects which would be beneficial for tourists and others in this regard.
It has also to be emphasized that the information I have outlined is through my personal experience of these areas and the collection of data broad based for the convenience of all those who would like to travel about, which to my knowledge is most informative and updated.
